Retail Awards

The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show understands the importance our exhibitors hold in creating a positive and unique experience for visitors to the Show. We place a significant degree of value on ensuring our range of exhibitors provide the highest level of variety, education, entertainment, inspiration and breadth of products, and encourage those that apply for places to go beyond the static display that is typical of many other shows. We are fortunate enough to have many exhibitors that continue to strive for new and exciting ideas to add value to their display, whether they are a returning or first time exhibitor. We aim to create a positive network for all of our exhibitors and ensure the experience for those taking a site is worthwhile and positive.

To reward the Retail exhibitors that elevate their display at the Show, award categories have been developed to both encourage and shine a light on the important role our exhibitor sites play in delivering a Show of this scale. Please see more information regarding the award categories below.

Best Visual Display

With the colour, variety and ever-changing trends through the floral and garden industries, our exhibitors are consistently effective at creating captivating and engaging displays at the Show. We encourage and support all exhibitors in producing an experience for the visitors at their site and present an award for the retail exhibitor/s that are judged by a select panel to be the best visual display.

The key qualities assessed by the independent judging panel are listed below:

• Initial Impact – A striking exhibit and full use of space
• Innovation – Creative and original ideas
• Themed Design – A consistent theme is evident throughout
• Scale and Proportion – All elements in proportion without over dominating
• Signage – Adds value while remaining non-intrusive and cohesive
• Special Features/Construction – X-factor of display, added elements
• Plant Life/Florals – Presence of plant life/florals within display

All exhibitors are nominated for this award when they are accepted for a site at the Show.

2024 Winner – Montague Farms

Montague Farms, in their first time exhibiting at the Show, delivered an exhibitor site that provided a well-rounded experience for the visitors to the Show. Set within a professionally designed garden setting led by plants from Warners Nurseries, the Montague Farms site hosted multiple daily workshops and ongoing engagement to educate and inspire visitors to the Show about their products and tips to take back to their own gardens. As a first time exhibitor, Montague Farms showed a high degree of focus on delivering the best visitor experience possible within their site.

A formal judging criteria for the 2025 Show will be made available prior to the Show.

Sustainable Garden Product of the Show

The second edition of the Sustainable Garden Product of the Show was held in 2024 and saw a significant increase in entries and quality. As more of the flower and garden industry turns to sustainability to create a difference with their products, greater consideration is given to the broad nature of what sustainability is and how it can be applied across all product categories.

Exhibitors are required to nominate for this award and are provided a judging criteria to submit their application on. You can find the 2024 Judging Criteria here.

More information on the products that received the highest scores at the 2024 Show from the independent judging panel can be found here. Congratulations to all the entrants in 2024, with particular note to the Seed Box Collections from Native Seed Box who were awarded first place.
