We recommend travelling to the Show via Public Transport. Carlton Gardens are conveniently located on the edge of Melbourne’s CBD, and is accessible by tram, train and bus. Plan your journey using PTV journey planner.
Melbourne's Free Tram Zone operates within the CBD and stops directly out the front of the Carlton Gardens on the corner of Victoria Parade and Nicholson Street at Stop 11.
Stop 12 (Melbourne Museum) is the closest stop to MIFGS, with entry to the Show being into the Royal Exhibition Building via the Museum Plaza, however, please note this is outside of the free tram zone.
The free City Circle Tram stops just outside the entrance to the Carlton Gardens at the Boulevard Gate in Victoria Street. Please note that there is no stop at Southern Cross Station.
Tram numbers 96 & 86 run along Nicholson St and stop near the Museum Concourse Gate to the Royal Exhibition Building. Shuttle trams will operate between La Trobe and Spencer Streets and the event via both La Trobe Street and Bourke Street.
We have put on additional tram services around the Carlton Gardens to make your journey to the event as easy as possible.
Visitors can catch the following bus routes close to the Show:
Victoria Street/Victoria Parade
Nicholson Street
Lonsdale and Exhibition streets
Rathdowne Street
Customers are advised to travel to Parliament Station in the City Loop and then walk to the Royal Exhibition Building. Parliament Station’s Spring Street exit is only 600m from the Gardens, an easy 5-10 minute walk.
For information on travelling to the Show via accessible public transport, please view the Disabled Facilities Page.
From Friday 16 March to Sunday 29 April, the autumn construction blitz will deliver major road and rail infrastructure upgrades to Melbourne and regional Victoria.
