Garden & Landscape Competitions

At the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, the gardening and floral industries set the standards in horticulture by bringing together new ideas and the very best plants, products and people with a rigorous commitment to quality.

Bigger and better than ever, the 2025 festival’s outdoor program will boast more than 50 enchanting garden displays across five categories.

The feature garden competition comes from the Show Gardens which produces up to 10 gardens designed by some of Australia and the world’s best landscape designers. Complementing the landscape design opportunities, the Boutique Gardens showcase how best to use a 5m x 5m space, with creativity and wow factor the key mantra for emerging and established designers. Over in the Challenger Achievable Gardens, budding horticulturalists will deliver a series of approachable gardening solutions using quality materials, with their end products showing skill well beyond their years as a current student.

For urban gardeners, the Balcony Gardens and Border Gardens will celebrate the changing nature of the Australian backyard. The Balcony Gardens puts a premium on style and aesthetics, while maintaining the importance of plant use and choice in an urban setting. The Border Gardens are all about plants – 2.4m x 2.4m spaces are provided to participants to show off the latest trends and classic arrangements for plants of all shapes, sizes, colour and variety.

The Show is delighted to also host the Hanging Basket Competition, providing a platform for the entire gardening community to have their very own display at the Show. No one is over or under qualified for this competition – your most accessible opportunity to get involved throughout the Show.

Take part in this prestigious event and your business will be associated with the sustainability messaging, tradition, quality and all the excitement of a major event which enjoys strong national media attention.
