The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is seeking applicants for the 3rd edition of the Border Garden Competition presented by the London College of Garden Design Melbourne.
2024 will see the return of the Border Garden Competition and the competition will be bigger and better as the education and variety develops through the knowledge and industry experience of the team at the London College of Garden Design Melbourne.
This exciting competition is a platform to help emerging garden designers and experts show what is possible to achieve in a tiny space with a sole focus on plants. The focus here is on all plants and making the greenlife the star of the space!
The competition area will be complemented by a workshop schedule from the London College of Garden Design Melbourne team who will be sharing their tips and tricks on how to make your plants shine in small spaces and exist in harmony. This will ensure each Garden included within the area receives high levels of visitation, offering competitors a fantastic opportunity to promote their creativity, innovation and horticultural understanding to an engaged horticulturally-inspired audience of over 100,000 attendees.
The below images are from four (4) of the Border Gardens that featured in the 2022 Show.
The task at hand? Create a 2.4×2.4m Border Garden that shows a planting scheme that shows off your skills of planting design, plant arrangement and horticulture knowledge. You might decide to create a wildlife friendly design, a water wise planting design for summer droughts or a party planting theme for an urban space. You story will rest with you!
Independent nurseries from Victoria will be engaged to support with the supply of plants, providing an opportunity to engage with local supplier and deepen the knowledge and purpose of the plants available and selected.
The Border Gardens Competition will profile up to 12 installations at the 2024 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show from Wednesday 20th March to Sunday 24th March within the Carlton Gardens.
