Back for its second year, The Indigenous Garden – Wurundjeri Biik Baan continues to honour the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, offering a deeply cultural and immersive experience. This year, the garden introduces the all-new eel (iuk) story, symbolising seasonal change and the enduring connection to Country.
A space of reflection, storytelling, and respect, the garden will once again host the Welcome to Country ceremony on Wednesday morning, inviting visitors to engage with the rich traditions and wisdom of First Nations culture.
‘Wurundjeri biik baan’ is a celebration of water country, and an opportunity to experience a sliver of the interconnected swamps, rivers and marshes that defined Naarm/Melbourne prior to colonial settlement. It is an invitation to imagine the land as Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung ancestors lived it, and a call to heal and care for country and its waterways.
