Reclaimed Flexi-Nook – Humanaturescapes - STAND D11e

Reclaimed Flexi-Nook is a space totally created from reclaimed materials –  found and borrowed. Using existing resources and saving a number of materials from landfill is a prime goal here, showing what is possible with some effort and creativity. Pallet and hard rubbish wood has been treated in three different ways – shou sugi ban scorching; paint and paint-wash to gain various effects. Items that others felt were no longer useful have been reclaimed as plant cutting stations, display cases and functional furniture. Working with vertical storage and features, the ‘small’ scope of the balcony can become a variety of purposeful spaces – a place for a private drink for two with a view; an outdoor office; a plant and seed propagating space; a reading nook. The plants provide a diversity of foliage and colour, creating a touch of refuge from the wider outside world and softening this restorative nook.
