The dates are set for Wednesday 29th March to Sunday 2nd April (subject to change) with over 100,000 visitors expected to flood through the gates of the World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens to experience everything the Show has to offer. During five glorious Autumn days in the heart of Melbourne the iconic venue will be brought to life for this world class exhibition. Showcasing innovative and exciting retail shopping precincts, vibrant floral installations by leading designers, art and sculpture exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations, live competitions, kids activities, entertainment for the whole family and great food – It really is a festival for all ages! And to top it all off? In 2023 we’re thrilled to be welcoming back an incredible lineup of Show Garden Landscape Designers who have previously won the highly coveted ‘Award of Excellence for Best in Show’, the top prize awarded annually. These Designers will return to create mind-blowing landscape design installations. It’s a coming-together, the likes the Show has never seen before, of Australian & International design Royalty, all in celebration of Australia’s most loved horticulture event. Retail Awards

Creating a positive and unique experience for visitors to the Show is a key part to exhibiting at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. To reward the Retail exhibitors that elevate their display at the Show, award categories have been developed to both encourage and shine a light on the important role our Retail sites play in developing the most rewarding experience for both exhibitors and visitors alike. Best Visual Display

With the colour, variety and ever-changing trends through the floral and garden industries, our exhibitors are consistently effective at creating captivating and engaging displays at the Show. We encourage and support all exhibitors in producing an experience for the visitors at their site and present an award for the retail exhibitor/s that are judged by a select panel to be the best visual display.

In 2023 the Show presented an award to both the best small (36m2 or smaller) and large (60m2 or larger) sites as determined by an independent judging panel. The deserving winners were:

Smaller sites – Open Gardens Victoria in collaboration with Emma Sheppard-Simms of Plantery Landscape Architecture (A Place For Us)
Larger sites – Drewitt’s Bulbs

Open Gardens Victoria launched a brand new initiative for the 2023 Show, providing a platform for an emerging designer to install a garden at the Show. The lucky recipient was Emma Sheppard-Simms of Plantery Landscape Architecture, who with the help of an all-female construction team, designed a beautiful space that was a faviourite of the visitors to the Show. Other sites commended by the judging panel included The Plant Runner & Woody Meadows.

It was the team at Drewitt’s Bulbs that were again awarded the Best Visual Display prize for their site, creating an impressive display full of colour and highlighted by their superhero theme and kids activities to strengthen the Show’s efforts at growing their Kid-Friendly options. Other sites commended by the judging panel included Digger’s Club, Garden Express, Lifestyle Communities and Shapescaper.
